As predictable as the sun rising in the east – and without making too much hoopla about it – Google’s gone into the migration business trying to decouple folks from Microsoft Exchange and move them to Google Apps.
Its newfangled Google Apps Migration for Microsoft Exchange tool works with Google Apps Premier or Education Edition and Exchange 2003/2007 on-premise or hosted.
Google says it can do a centrally managed bulk migration of users; selectively migrate e-mail, calendar or contacts (or any combination thereof); and migrate very large migrations in phases.
Exchange users aren’t supposed to feel any sense of detachment.
The move is supposed to be transparent – the earth won’t move during migration – and say, for instance, they move to Gmail. Their folders are supposed to be preserved.
